Dental Veneers

Dental Veneers

Veneers are an excellent way of improving the cosmetic appearance of your teeth, whilst involving minimal tooth structure loss during the tooth preparation. Veneers are made of very fine porcelain and are bonded to your own teeth to improve your appearance. If you want a natural bright smile with whiter straighter teeth, veneers may be an excellent option!

Dental Crowns

Dental Crowns

At Acorn Dental Clinic the price of the crowns starts from £500. If your tooth is damaged or discoloured, speak to one of our friendly clinicians about the available options. We have a wide rage of treatments to suit our patients’ needs.

What are dental crowns?

Dental crowns are tailor-made prosthetic restorations which fit over a real tooth in order to protect it from tooth decay, increase its resistance or improve the aspect of the teeth. Dental crowns can also cover a large filling, restore a broken tooth or a dental implant or can be used as abutment for a dental bridge. Dental crowns have a natural shape and colour and are made to look like real teeth.

How long will my crown last?

Our principal dentists are very experienced and have placed during their career over 1000 crowns. Dental crowns are made of strong materials like zirconia, ceramic, metal and are expected to last about 5 years. Very often they can last much longer than this, especially if you look after them (brush twice a day and floss once a day) and attend for regular dental check-ups (at least every 6 months).

What will be involved for having a crown fitted?

You will need at least two appointments in order for your dental crown to be fitted. On the first visit, your dentist will numb your tooth and prepare it (shape it) for the crown. An impression of the tooth will be taken and sent to the dental laboratory, where your crown will be manufactured. You will wear a temporary crown until your next visit, when the permanent crown will be fitted and cemented in place.

Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are prosthetic restorations used to replace one or more missing teeth. It attaches to the remaining teeth in order to bridge the gap caused by the missing teeth. This will restore your smile, make it easier for you to chew and speak and prevent the remaining teeth from drifting into the gaps. Bridges can improve your oral health and prevent tooth decay and periodontal (gums) disease, as often the gaps caused by missing teeth favour food impaction and are areas where bacteria can thrive, causing more destruction (tooth decay and attachment loss).

Can anyone have a bridge?

The simple answer is no. Not anyone missing teeth is eligible for a dental bridge, this is mainly depending on the number of missing teeth and the location of the gaps. The adjacent (neighbouring) teeth of the gap need to be in a good condition in order to support the bridge. Ask your dentist about the other treatment options for missing teeth.

What’s involved in having a dental bridge fitted?

You will need two visits, usually 1-2 weeks apart. During the first visit the dentist will prepare the teeth neighbouring the gap and take an impression. This will be sent to the dental laboratory, where your bridge will be custom made. At the second visit you will have the bridge cemented in place and you can enjoy your new smile. You will need to take care of your bridge and clean it in the same way as you would clean your natural teeth. Brush twice a day using a fluoride tooth paste and floss daily!

How long will the dental bridge last?

A dental bridge usually last between 5 and 10 years, this depends on good levels of oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups.

Professional Teeth Whitening treatment

Professional Teeth Whitening

As we get older, the enamel (the hard outer layer of the teeth) is thinning, showing more of the dentin underneath. Also, certain drinks (tea, coffee, red wine) and foods or medication (tetracyclines) can discolour your teeth. Being a cosmetic procedure, teeth whitening will improve the appearance of your smile. If you have a special event or just want to treat yourself, a whitening is a safe and effective treatment. Teeth whitening can only be offered by a qualified dental practitioner, such as our registered dental professionals at Acorn Dental Clinic. We are very experienced in offering whitening treatments and we will ensure that you are safe and informed during the treatment.

At Acorn Dental Clinic we offer Enlighten Whitening and standard whitening. Both methods involve a take home kit which include the whitening gel and moulds that you will have to wear, usually overnight.

Enlighten is one of the newest whitening methods and it proved to be extremely efficient in helping the patients achieve a bright shade of teeth (B1) in a short period of time. It uses less bleach and does not require a ‘white diet’.

How much is the whitening treatment?

At Acorn Dental Clinic Teeth Whitening Treatment starts at £550.

Invisible Braces (Invisalign)

Invisible Braces

Invisalign treatment can help you achieve nice straight teeth, avoiding the traditional inaesthetic metal braces. If eligible for the Invisalign treatment, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth and send them to a special dental lab, where your tailor made aligners will be produced. Clear aligners are nearly invisible, unlike the metal braces. This will be fitted over your teeth and after a period of time will need replacing with the next pair of aligners. Initially a new aligner can cause mild discomfort which will usually subside in the next couple of days.

A series of aligners are required in order to achieve the desired result. The number of aligners needed depends on the complexity of the case and on the individual patient’s response to the treatment.
